I just bought our plane tickets this morning to fly to Portland Friday night and stay through Monday. I used Priceline to get a steal of a deal on a car and our friends the Kendalls are letting us stay at their place.Our current plan is to leave the beautiful Bay area within the next 1 1/2-2 1/2 years. We love it here, but housing prices, etc. make it really hard to raise a family. If we wanted to rent forever of course we'd stay! Note: We are renting a beautiful home, and have a great landlord, but if I'm going to spend $600k+ on a home it better not be 25+ years old!
Moving on...since the stock market is doing horrible, we've decided to pull our money out and invest in property we can build on when we are ready. We were lucky to make a decent profit when we sold our house in Payson, UT and since then it's just been sitting waiting for us to buy something new.
So off we are this weekend to hopefully decide on an area that we really like and can afford. FYI the Portland real estate market is very stable at the moment, and some of the areas that we think we'll like are still growing at 7+%! If anyone has any recommendations of areas they like let us know!

I heard medford, oregon is nice. But to be honest my friend told me that and I don't know much more about it besides that. :) Good luck and have fun!
