Already 2 years....

Two years ago this weekend we left the first (and only) home we owned in Payson, Utah. Time flies! That Friday afternoon we had some friends help us pack up our huge moving truck and we were on our way early Saturday morning on our trek to California. Kurt's parents drove out with us and then helped us unpack, along with my family, Sunday afternoon. I wasn't much help with the lifting being 6 1/2 months pregnant with Logan.

As excited as I was to be moving back to California and closer to my family, I was a little nervous. I hadn't even seen the house we'd be moving into! Kurt flew out to CA a couple weeks earlier and with the help of my mom they drove around and saw dozens of houses. Kurt had some pretty strong spiritual promptings that we were supposed to be in the house we are currently in. The scary thing was that before he got to the Open House the owner already had 11 applications for the property! We felt so fortunate to get the house! It was at least $300-$400 less a month than our other options and much nicer! The house itself has 1650 sq. feet (3 bed, 2 1/2 bath) and really nicely landscaped backyard with tons of fruit trees. The best part is that we have a gardener! So we get to enjoy its beauty with very little work. :)

I thought I'd share some highlights since our move to the Bay Area:

*5th Anniversary weekend in Half Moon Bay (me=VERY pregnant at the time)
*Kurt's work Summer Party in Golden Gate Park (deYoung Museum)
*Birth of Logan Matthew--It was a little scary finding new doctors, etc. in the middle of the pregnancy. But the midwives at Kaiser were wonderful!
*Countless trips to the beach--Pacifica, Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz
*BART and trolley car rides into San Francisco
*Trips to Monterey and Carmel
*Great new friends!
*Wards that have kept us VERY busy! Kurt's callings have included Elder's Quorum 1st Counselor & YM President. Rachel's callings have included Achievement Day Girls Leader, Primary Teacher, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Oakland Temple Pageant Rep, and Stake Primary Secretary!
*Missionary Service--especially in our Coyote Hills Ward, Kurt has gone out to teach with missionaries probably hundreds of times.
*Having Nick come live with us and witness him change his life for the better and eventually serve a mission.
*Living closer to my family and being able to see them much more often.
*Being able to host Kurt's parents for several FUN visits!
*Attending a San Jose Sharks Game with Nick.
*VMware going public and sharing stock with its employees!
*Park days & Bunco nights with friends.
*Our 1st Christmas with JUST the 3 of us.
*Hosting Logan's 1st Easter egg hunt.

I love seeing your little family. Wow, I can't believe it has been two years either. It feels like just yesterday I was at your baby shower. How fun. I miss Utah as well. Last night Greg and I watched the church version of "Pride and Prejudice" and were stopping the video every so often to remember our dear Provo.
