Day at the Zoo

Today my friend Tanya decided we wanted to take our kids to the Oakland Zoo. We also invited Alyse & Lynette to come along with their little ones (but I forgot to get pictures of them and their cute boys). It's fun because we all have memberships to the zoo, so we didn't feel rushed to see everything before we left.
We were lucky to have nice weather...high 60s the entire time with sunshine. A lot of the animals were out and easy to see. There was a brand new baby giraffe that was born at the beginning of May and he's already taller than I am! According to the zoo website he's 5'5". I think my favorite animal of the day was the sun bear. He was sitting right next to us in the shade eating a coconut. We also were able to watch the elephants during feeding time.
On our way out Tanya and I took our kids on the steam engine that goes through and around the zoo. This was Logan's 5th train ride and he's finally warming up to the idea. For a kid who loves Thomas, he freaks out on the little stream engines. But by the end, he was still holding on tight, but he started looking around and smiling. Maybe there is hope!
(About picture: the viewer on our digital camera flips around making it easier to take pictures of yourself...Logan thinks its the coolest thing! I used this knowledge to make him smile on the train ride:) )
