To catch up where I left off...Thursday afternoon I was able to catch up and visit with my friend Alexis. We've kept in touch off and on since high school, but haven't seen each other in about 8 years or so. It was fun to visit and hear about her adventures in Southern Ca, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and now her job that takes her all over the place.
Friday morning we braved the heat in order to do a little shopping. I found a cute top at Old Navy (mine is lavendar) and my mom bought me an early birthday present--an entire outfit at Kohls for only $25! A really cute shirt for less than $6 (on clearance of course) and some way comfy cute jeans. I'm excited! I'm not that big yet. I am in the "fat" stage as I like to call it. You're not big enough for people to know your pregnant...most maternity clothes are still huge...but your pre-pregnancy clothes aren't comfortable.
Friday night I was able to attend my friend Melanie's baby shower. She scored some great stuff! Usually with your first kid all you get at your shower are clothes. However, with a room full of people she only received a handful of outfits! It was fun to visit with her. She'll be a great mom. Her due date in the day after my birthday (June 26th)...so I'm hoping the baby comes a day early of course!
Saturday, while waiting for Kurt to arrive, Logan and I attended my niece Kylee's softball game. We didn't get to stay for the entire game, but we saw her hit a double! Her team is in 1st place! GO KYLEE!
Kurt arrived just before lunch time on Saturday. That morning he helped our friend's Ryan & Erika move out of their place in Vacaville. They should be moved into their new place in Folsom by now! While they are moving farther away...we're excited they are close to my family so hopefully we'll still be seeing them fairly often! Anyways, after Kurt cleaned himself up a little we drove down to Citrus Heights to meet with Elder Keyser and his companions.
Nick looks great and he has himself a great senior companion--Elder Major from South Carolina. They also had an extra Elder staying with them for a few days. Kurt told the Elders that we'd be treating them to lunch wherever they wanted to go. They chose Leatherbys. Kurt was a little surprised of their choice, but it is where they wanted to go!
The sandwiches and icecream were very yummy! Nick is currently serving in the Citrus Heights Ward. They showed us the ward boundaries and they are tiny! He said they can bike across the longest part in about 15 minutes! They are having lots of success teaching people and the ward members are amazing. The ward as whole is very missionary oriented--so it makes being a missionary a lot easier.
We felt very fortunate to visit with Nick--most of the time you aren't allowed to or able to visit missionaries because of distance and other factors. We most likely won't be seeing him again until February 2010. We wanted to visit sometime after the baby is born, but realized the chances of him still being in the area are pretty slim.
Sunday morning, we drove home and made it back in time for church. Good thing we did too! Bishop Jacobsen was released after serving as the Bishop of the Union City Ward for 5 1/2 years. Everyone knew the change was coming at some point, but wasn't sure when. Bishop (Wilson) Lee was called and sustained during Sacrament meeting. He will be an amazing Bishop! His wife is one of my good friends and is equally amazing.

I wonder if Kurt's brother is in my Dad's ward (Fisk). Also, I was hoping to see pics of Melanie's baby shower! She needs to get a blog, seriously. :)
We were in Vacaville on Saturday, too, and the outside temp was 111 degrees! I don't know how Kurt was able to help out with a move that day - HOT!
