Fruit for Thought at Week 16

Tomorrow I am officially 16 weeks along...and Baby apparently should be the size of an avocado. To me that's a little odd, because our trees grow huge oranges that are just as big as avocados (see previous blog). Maybe last week they were talking about mandarin oranges?

They also tell me that the home I've created for it is better than the size of a cantaloupe.

Now that I've entered my 2nd Trimester I've been feeling a lot better. I still take naps, but not necessarily daily. To the average person I probably still just look fat, but those that know I'm pregnant may say I am starting to show. I have had a few people at church actually ask if I was pregnant, and thankfully I am or else that could have been VERY embarrassing for both of us! Two weeks from tomorrow morning we find out the baby's sex! We're pretty excited. The Chinese calendar and my midwife are voting boy, but Kurt has had strong impressions that its a girl...so we'll see who wins that battle. As for me, I'm still staying out of it, because I was CERTAIN Logan was a girl.

This morning my sister-in-law Anissa came over bearing boxes of maternity clothes. (Thank you Anissa!) I'm still trying to figure out if I have enough clothes for our Maui trip. (We leave in 3 weeks from today!) I bought a few capris while I was pregnant with Logan, but it doesn't get that hot here...so I also wore pants half the time. However, I doubt I'll be up to wearing pants in Maui, especially in July.

Well, I best be off for tonight, but I wanted to make sure Shelley had something interesting to read. :) Also if anyone is interested here are some more details about Baby Keyser 2.0:

At 4 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and 3 1/2 ounces, your babyis about the size of an avacado. In the next three weeks, she'll go through a tremendous growth spurt, though, doubling her weight and adding inches to her length. Her lower limbs are much more developed now. Her head is more erect than it has been, and her eyes have moved toward the front of her head. Your baby's ears are close to their final position, too. Some of her more advanced body systems are working, including her circulatory system and urinary tract. Her heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, circulating her total blood volume through her body many times. (By the end of the pregnancy, this will increase to about 190 quarts.) The patterning of her scalp has begun, though her hair isn't recognizable yet. Although closed, her eyes are moving (slowly), and she's even started growing toenails.
