Wording of Proposition 8 on Ballot May Confuse - Understand BEFORE You Vote!

Many people may be confused by what they see on the California ballot for Proposition 8 this November. SO, I thought I'd do everyone a favor. The ENTIRE text of Proposition 8 adds the following words to the California State constitution. The words serve one purpose: They define marriage. They do NOT take away any rights for Californians of any sexual persuasion. They also DO NOT prevent homosexual couples from entering into unions that the state recognizes as equal in ALL aspects to a heterosexual married couple.

The entire text of Proposition 8 is as follows:

"Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid and recognized in California."

My gay friends agree; changing the definition of a word to include a currently excluded group because federal law grants rights to that particular group is a cop-out. Changing the legislation that grants those rights unequally is the correct approach. Is that bigoted? Would you call "Black", "White" or would you make sure "Black" had the same rights and privileges as "White"? Don't redefine Marriage, redefine the legislation so that others are granted rights equally.

Vote Yes on Proposition 8 this fall!
