Anyone reading this is probably thinking Kelsie did something new and exciting. Not this time. "She" is Rachel, and she finally gave into my requests to try something new for dinner tonight.
Since we moved to the Bay Area, I've been introduced to foods from around the world at some of the best restaurants I've ever been to. They say for food lovers, the SF Bay Area is heaven. I have to agree.
Now, if you know Rachel, you know she's a meat and potatoes kind of girl. Exotic or new types of food don't excite her one bit. In fact, the thought usually makes her gag. I, on the other hand love just about every type of food under the sun. It's been a real struggle for us over the years. Most of my favorite restaurants just don't serve hamburgers or steak.
Well, tonight, Rachel made my day. She finally gave in to my requests to try something new: Thai. I know, I know, many of you are saying, "WHAT!? I LOVE THAI!" and I would be right there with you. But again, it's ... different and therefore something to be feared. However, after she tried it, she loved it. Now, she only tried the Chicken Pad Thai and just about anyone who's had that will tell you it's an easy like, but what may seem like a small step to some was a giant leap of faith for Rachel.
I'm proud of her. Next up: I need to figure out a way to introduce her to good Indian cuisine. That or maybe my favorite Vietnamese Pho shop. Or maybe Singaporean... I've long since given up on her ever liking sushi, even though I eat anything in sushi/sashimi form that came from the ocean.
If anyone cares, the place we went to is Chaiyo Thai Cuisine (recently renamed).
