Farewell, Battlestar Galactica

Ok, so first off, I'm jotting this down for a couple of reasons:
  1. I want to remember how great this show was in 20 years.
  2. The new series based on the original deserves an honest, critical look from anyone who enjoys a good story.
If you haven't seen the series, you're missing out. It's a simple fact. BSG was one of, if not the greatest series produced over the past five years. I don't care if you love or hate the scifi genre, it crosses FAR too many boundaries to be locked down into one niche.

I won't spoil anything here, but I agree with the words of one SFGate critic with regards to the finale:
Love it, hate it, wish it were different or take it for what it was. I'm going to look beyond the ending to the big picture. And that is that I'm going to miss watching this series - period. It's all too rare that I look forward to watching a series every week. And it's even more rare when a series is willing to take so many risks in the storytelling. That's what drew me in and kept me coming back. I don't think Moore and company completely stuck the landing here, but they totally nailed the series as a whole. Can't fault them for that - only thank them.
