Initially, Kurt & I really liked the house, problems and all. It's pretty quirky, but we liked that! Definitely not a cookie cutter house. Very unique. We kept seeing the end result after all the work and were pretty excited. There was a guest room, indoor laundry, office/craft room, play room, etc....
Now for the big BUT - After coming home and researching, we realized that the work was going to cost probably double what it normally would due to all of the custom work that needed done. Seriously probably $100k.
Random sunken in bathtub/shower. Have you ever seen such a thing? The re-tiled everything around it, but didn't touch it.
3rd Floor - kids rooms, play area, nice new 3rd bathroom. Requires all new custom doors.
The toilet portion of the bathroom currently didn't even have a door.
Still 3rd floor, would have been kids play area.
Broken parallelogram window - expensive to replace and didn't have any screens. Not too excited to have my kids possibly fall out a 3rd floor window!
And lastly, the deal breaker for our parents. The spiral staircase - the only way to the main (2nd) floor of the house. Not sure how I'd get my entertainment center up those stairs. (Kurt wanted to rip it out and build a wider, more safe staircase).
If you'd like to see more pictures of the house, click here. I'm sad to see it go. Despite all of its flaws, it was still the perfect size and had a gorgeous (after weeding) backyard. I guess I need to go back to that patience post and realize that the Lord has a plan for us and has a home somewhere waiting for us.

Wow, the Real Estate listing you posted on your last post certainly omitted all the little weird things about the house. Sunken shower, weird! Don't worry, you'll find something.
