We're closing on the house TOMORROW!!!! We'll probably be getting the keys sometime mid-next week. The official move-in date for us is scheduled for the first weekend in October. We're going to use the week in between to do some work (or have some work done) on the house. Nothing major - but we need a fenced area for the dog and kids, new counters, tearing out a huge ugly custom built-in entertainment center, and a few minor repairs.
I thought I'd post a couple new house pictures. Above is a little built-in breakfast nook in the kitchen. I think it will be perfect for future homework sessions. I'm super excited for the storage this kitchen has compared to our current home. Also, we're going to be putting in granite countertops! The current owners purchased a couple slabs of PINK granite and are leaving it for us. We definitely don't want pink granite, but going to try to work out a trade with the contractor. Either way, we've heard it's a great time to buy granite because of the economy. I think the brown granite will warm up the kitchen a lot. We also plan to switch out the knobs.

Congratulations! The house looks nice and your yard is HUGE. That is perfect for kids. I hope all continues to goes well and that you finally are able to buy this house. Home ownership is great but a lot of work. The fun part is you get to paint walls and make the house your own.

I can't believe that they even make pink granite! My Brother had his resurfaced to a different color or something, I only half paid attention (like always) :)
