As we were driving to Bakersfield last Sunday afternoon I wasn't feeling very well. I was pretty tired, but tried to stay awake to keep my mom company and make the drive easier for her. After arriving and heading to bed I felt really hot and had a fever off and on most of the night. In the morning I started getting ready to visit my Grandma Kyle (the main reason for the trip) - after my shower I felt dead tired and feverish again. :( I rested on the couch and Logan became Uncle Craig's buddy for the day. They were "worker men" fixing things around the house and Craig treated Logan to a lunch at Wendy's. Logan was in "worker man" heaven.
After another night and morning feeling feverish I decided it was time to go to the doctor. Luckily, Kaiser had a clinic close to my Aunt & Uncle's house. After checking me out, the doctor thought I *might* have pneumonia and sent me over for a chest x-ray. Upon first glance at the x-ray she didn't see anything definitive, so she sent me home with some Mucinex. The next morning they called my home phone (where I wasn't at) and left urgent messages. Kurt picked up one of the calls and said for them to call my cell phone because I was out of town. The nurse finally got a hold of me and said I DID have PNEUMONIA and that I needed to come in right away for a blood test and to pick up a prescription. I still have no idea how I got pneumonia, although my immune system was probably down from stressing over the house, etc. For now I'm taking it easy. We got home Saturday afternoon and my visiting teaching coordinated meals for today and tomorrow. Hopefully I can send Kurt to the grocery store tomorrow and will be back to my normal self by Tuesday or Wednesday.
Next fun Kaiser story - same vacation, different day.

Kelsie (and Logan) had runny noses all week, but I just guessed it was allergies due to the climate/weather change. However, Thursday evening Kelsie took a turn for the worse. Her cough had gotten worse and after dinner and she was having a hard time breathing. She was breathing really fast and her whole chest was going in and out. She asked to go to bed before 7pm. After calling the advice nurse she told us to go into the clinic right away. At about 9:30pm Kelsie was diagnosed with a double ear infection and asthma-like symptoms due to her coughing. Lucky for me, my mom was able to come along and Logan stayed with my Aunt & Uncle. I was sent to the pharmacy to pick up 3 different prescriptions and Kelsie stayed with mom to get some breathing treatments, totally 15 minutes. The treatments sure worked and she was super hyper at 10:30pm running around the house.

That's so wild. You're one of the only people I've ever met who has actually had pneumonia! I hope you feel better soon. :)
