Exploring Big Basin

Saturday morning we decided we really needed to get out of the house.  So, we drove up the road a few miles to Big Basin State Park.  Kurt thought it was a little ridiculous to pay money to park when most of the park looks like out backyard, but we did anyways!

We walked through the little museum and learned different facts about the redwood trees and also saw some stuffed animals that freaked Kelsie out.  Kurt had too much fun torturing the little girl.

After the museum we "explored" the Redwood Loop Trail. It's only about 1/2 mile long and was the perfect length for the little ones.  Kelsie didn't get fussy until we were almost back to the car.
Pictured above Logan and Kelsie are listening for animals.  Logan wanted to find a skunk and kept telling us we had to be quiet so it wouldn't "stink us".
Kelsie heard a bird. :)  She is also our budding photographer.  She often uses her dad's tripod as her camera. After she took her picture she insisted on carrying the heavy tripod all by herself.
L- Kelsie refusing to be part of our picture.  R- A pretty dang good picture Logan took of us.
