Celebration of Kurt's 32nd Year of Life

Last Tuesday I convinced Kurt to take his birthday off from work so we could do something fun as a family.  Kurt isn't a big birthday person, but we had a lot of fun.  He started off his day by waking up at 6am to go cut down some trees (his choice).  After napping he was ready for the day. :)  We had breakfast and then present time.  I took each of the kids to Dollar Tree to pick something out for their dad.  Logan picked out a set of pens for Kurt.  He thought his dad really needed more pens.  Kelsie picked out rakes, so she could help her dad out in the yard.

Kurt also got a couple surprise packages - one from Orem, Utah, and one from Qatar (via the internet).  Ryan (Kurt's bro) bought Kurt a Subaru Racing tshirt.  Those two are obsessed with their Subaru WRXs.  Kurt's sweet hat came from Travis, a friend from his mission and BYU.  Travis has been teasing Kurt about his "tractor", big truck, and lumberjack skills...so the hat seemed appropriate.

I finally took Kurt's non-prescription expensive sunglasses in for new lenses.  Now he'll actually be able to see while we're in Hawaii!  (He also got a beach towel and flip flops...I wonder what I'm excited for!)
(Lunch at Chilis)

After present time we head to Capitola and Santa Cruz to enjoy the beautiful day!  We made a brief stop into Home Depot for Kurt to spend his gift card from his parents - it was then I decided Home Depot is Kurt's craft store. lol We had a great time before heading to sushi in Scotts Valley with the Bransons.  AND I made my first homemade pie crust and lemon meringue pie.  The crust wasn't the prettiest...but it was the yummiest pie ever!
As a side note - Kurt didn't want me to mess up the meringue....so I made him blow out a scented candle instead. :)
