Futako-Tamagawa Hanabi (Fireworks)

Another item marked off my summer bucket list!  After a very rainy Saturday morning the clouds parted to make way for a very beautiful Summer evening.  We grabbed our picnic basket and headed to 7-11 to buy us some dinner.

We rode the bus to the Tamagawa eki (train station) and then walked along the Tama River towards Denechofu.

We arrived around 5pm, put down out blanket on the grass by the soccer fields and enjoyed our picnic.  It is important to note that this is the first grass we've sat on since arriving in Japan.

The fireworks were scheduled to start at 7pm, so we had some time to kill.  Kurt and the kids enjoyed find animals and shapes in the clouds.

As you can tell the fields were not crowded at all! People were still arriving 20-30 minutes before the fireworks started.  I'm sure the area around the Futako-Tamagawa was packed, but just down the river where we parked ourselves was perfect for us!

The fireworks show was a full hour long.  Fireworks were shot off from both sides of the river.  I've heard that it is actually a competition between the two cities.  These were the best fireworks we've ever seen!

Logan and Kelsie had fun dancing and spinning each other around in their yukatas.
