Avri's Health

Avri has been limping around the past couple weeks and not wanting to walk at all in the mornings. She also has had a couple different doctors comment on her having a mild heart murmur, but they haven't been overly concerned.  Those things along with her low weight...we decided it was time to take her to the doctor.

After seeing a pediatrician, she sent us to the hospital to take x-rays of Avri's knees and get some blood work done...

We received the results back tonight - tests showed she had fluid on both knees. Most of her blood work was normal (white blood cells, thyroid, etc.), but there were some markers there that concerned the doctor.

She referred us to a rheumalogist (sp?) at Primary Children's in SLC.  There is a very good chance that she will be diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA).  I'll be calling them in the morning and hopefully we'll be taking her in soon.

We'll also be visiting a pediatric cardiologist, just to double check her heart murmur.  Since she is having trouble gaining weight (she's 17 lb. at 17 months), they want to make sure there isn't any other underlying problems.

Please keep Avri in your prayers.  Kurt and I both feel like things will be OK, but prayers are always appreciated.
