Middle Names Issues

Yes, we still have months to figure it out, but Kurt and I are totally stuck on a middle name for Baby Kelsie. We've had a very hard time agreeing on anything. Logan Matthew just came so easily! I thought I'd ask for some help.

Qualifications (placed by Kurt for the most part):
1. Needs to either be 1 or 3 syllables
2. Can't be a "common" name (yes, Kurt checks name popularity rankings)
3. Can't start with a "K" for obvious reasons
4. First letter a voiced-consonant (for example, B, D, J, G, V, Z though others may work depending on the name and amount of aspiration/glottal state)
5. Accent on the first syllable
6. Preferably not ending in "eeee" sound

Can you tell I'm married to a Linguist?

The issue I'm having is that a couple names I really like are family names...but not necessarily family members I'd want to name my child after. And I know that if I did people would assume that is why I chose the name.

Wow! The pressure of choosing the "perfect" name for your little girl. Must be hard. At least you and Kurt have some guidelines set in place to help you choose a middle name. I can't think of anything right now. But I will let you know if I come up with a name.

Have fun in Hawaii.

I don't think I followed the qualifications on this one but what about: Mae? Jane? Maybe way too old fashioned?

I liked Jane, Kurt didn't...we're considering Jade

I think Leanna (leanne would be good too, but since it has to have 3 syllables add the a) might be cute. Though I don't know if it meets requirement number 4.

That list is great! Shane and I had very similar qualifications for names - I don't think you are being crazy at all. And I TOTALLY understand your hesitance on using family names. My brother gave his daughter my aunt's name for her middle name and my aunt was so thrilled. Um, ya she was NOT named after her. At all. My aunt is pretty crazy. It was just a nice name. Good luck!!!

I vote for Rebecca (or Rebekah, or however kids are spelling it these days). I also really like Jade. If you don't use it Ryan and I may steal it . . . one day.

I think it is neat to use a family name or a name that has some kind of meaning to you. Maybe you could pull out the family trees and find the perfect middle name.

Have you figured one out yet? I'm just catching up and thought of a couple- I like Evelyn, Faith, and Fiona. They may not make all the qualifications but that's my vote. :-) You look great and it looks like you guys had a great time in HI.
