A Much Needed "Mini-Vacation"

It's been a little while since I actually posted, but my excuse for this week is that we've been out of town since Thursday and before that I was getting ready to leave. :)

Thursday morning we packed up the car and drove to my mom's house in Cameron Park. We originally planned to go to the Sacramento Temple, but after unloading the car Kurt noticed a huge geyser in my mom's front yard. So he spent a few hours repairing a pipe. Not too fun, but we definitely owed mom for some free babysitting she'd be doing over the next couple days. After the situation was under control, we headed down to Folsom for a visit with the Ochsners. They treated us to a delicious dinner and Logan loved playing with all of little Ethan's toys. :)

Friday morning we packed up the car again, only this time we left Logan's stuff behind. Kurt & I took off for a belated Anniversary getaway to Lake Tahoe. My mom offered to watch Logan if we wanted to go to Tahoe since her house is on the way. We figured we better take her up on her offer before Kelsie arrives and I'll be attached to a new little one for a year or so. We arrived at Tahoe around lunch time at ate inside Heavenly Village and then decided to go see a movie. We watched Traitor. It was pretty good! I'd recommend watching it, you'd probably be ok watching it on your own tv...but we did really enjoy it! After the movie we were finally able to check into our hotel at the Montebleu Casino. We took the priceline route and got a pretty good deal for a holiday weekend. We didn't do anything too exciting, just a lot of resting and eating. :)

I did learn that a buffet isn't necessarily the best idea if you are pregnant. Why?
1. Your stomach is small because there is a baby squishing it most of the time, so you get full fast.
2. Your stomach isn't really THAT small...so 15 minutes later you are hungry again.
3. Your husband has to eat double to make up for the price you paid.

Saturday morning we packed up to head home. But before packing it all the way home we stopped off in Apple Hill to buy apple donuts and fresh fruit. We bought a box of peaches that I am hoping to can before I head to Utah next week. They were also having a great sale on the pears, so we bought a bag full of them as well.

Saturday afternoon was the beginning of the birthday celebrations...so I think I'll start a second post!
