Our realtor emailed us yesterday afternoon and said he delivered the contract along with our approval letter from the lender to the listing agent. He then learned that the house was only steps away from going into foreclosure and being auctioned off at the county steps. The listing agent told him that the bank 'stopped' the sale and is considering our offer. It will take a bit of time to get a response so we will have to be patient. BUT our offer is the one the bank is considering at this time.
So, now we wait. More lessons in patience I suppose. We're also going to continue looking at houses, since you never know what is going to happen with short sales....

Good luck! My brother put an offer on a short sale 15 months ago and is still waiting. They are the only offer the bank is considering, and are constantly being told its almost there, one thing left to do ... and still they wait. Hopefully your short sale is short!
