Back in November Kurt bought his dream car - a 2011 Subaru WRX. Daddy's "race car", as Logan calls it, is a great car and is fun to RIDE in...but I can't drive a stick. Normally this isn't an issue. "My Rav4" is an automatic and Kurt takes the WRX to work. However, with our callings at church there has been situations lately that have been really annoying since I can't drive both cars. i.e. Kurt drives the WRX to early morning meetings. Then I drive the kids to church in the Rav and have to stay after church for a meeting. Then Kurt has to move the car seats over to his car just to get home.
SO...this has led Kurt to INSIST that I learn how to drive his car...since he's the one who has to keep moving the car seats around.
My first official lesson was yesterday. An actually I think I did a pretty good job! If someone else would start the car for me I could drive anywhere. :) Ok, I'll start the car, but someone else has to start the car on hills...which is a lot of the time since I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains.:)
I will say Kurt handled to the whole teaching situation a lot better than I thought he would, even when I kept killing the car. Finally he let me just drive (I can swift gears while driving just fine), and drove through Boulder Creek and Bonny Doon and then out to Highway One (the ocean). Kurt took over from there and we stopped in Davenport for a yummy salad and pizza. :)
