Japanese Food

In Japan, almost every restaurant you go to will have a glass case of their menu items displayed.  There is actually a huge shopping area in Tokyo that just sells plastic food items.  We haven't been there yet, but it is on our to-do list.

Dinner at one of our favorite restaurants by our train station.
3 of those long rectangular bento boxes cost 800 yen (about $10).
Most restaurants also don't give free refills.  If you're lucky you'll find a restaurant with a "Drink Bar".  You play a flat price (100-400 yen usually) to have an unlimited number of drinks.  You help yourself like at a fast food restaurant in the US.
